If you have an under or overbite, chances are you likely need it corrected in order to have a cosmetically appealing and healthy smile. Believe it or not, but if your smile isn’t straight or your bite is misaligned, it can cause some serious oral health issues.

That’s why Dr. Darrell Spilsbury will most often treat bite problems with braces, so you don’t have to live with the problems cause by bad bites for the rest of your life.

Our Spilsbury Orthodontics team can use braces to gradually adjust your under or overbite to correct the problem. In severe cases, this might also include the use of additional hardware or the temporary use of headgear.

Of course, cementing the brackets onto your teeth and installing the rest of the hardware is only the first step in the process. The braces gradually adjust the position of your teeth through the course of periodic adjustments.

You will need to see your orthodontist, Dr. Darrell Spilsbury, every four to six weeks to have your braces tightened and adjusted. This applies progressive tension to stretch the periodontal ligaments that anchor your teeth in their sockets.

If you have bite problems and need help in correcting them, or you’re interested in learning more about the bite correction process, call us today at 702-434-0063.
